Hello friends, and welcome! Wasn’t the Yellow Cape Cod house tour gorgeous? All that cozy red and cabin charm — I was ready to move right in! I’m so excited to share our Christmas home with you this year. This is our first full year in our home, and I’m feeling more comfortable with my ever-evolving décor style.

Decorating for Christmas

Getting the house ready for Christmas is one of my favorite traditions. Growing up, I remember my mom pulling out the decorations the day after Thanksgiving and filling our home with so much joy.

Because of blogging, I usually start a little earlier than most — our first tree goes up in October, and by the end of November the house is pretty much done. In the past, I’ve felt pressure to make everything perfect for a holiday tour, but this year I slowed down.

I decorated thoughtfully, enjoyed the process, and kept it simple. Instead of chasing something over-styled, I refreshed old favorites, moved pieces into new spots, and sprinkled in a few fresh touches. After all, not everyone changes their color scheme each year — and that’s perfectly okay.

A Note From My Heart

If I wasn’t blogging, I’d probably keep the same decorations for years (maybe updating every 5 or so), and I’d be just fine with it. You shouldn’t feel pressured to overspend or go into debt for Christmas décor.

The beauty of this season is that small changes can make a big impact:

  • A pair of festive pillows on your chairs.
  • A couple of bows tied to your light fixtures.
  • Or simply rearranging what you already own.

My hope is that this tour brings you joy and inspiration. Use what you love, try something new if you want, and most importantly, enjoy the process. This community is about sharing, not comparing.

A Peek Inside

I’ll let the photos do most of the talking, but here’s a little guide to each space with links to shop similar items if you’d like to add something to your own collection.

Christmas Kitchen

I shared this simmer pot idea on Instagram and so many of you asked for the “recipe.” It’s just a mix of leftover spices simmering on the stove — but it makes the whole house smell like a winter cabin.

Winter Cabin Potpourri

  • Lemon slices
  • Cinnamon sticks
  • Rosemary
  • Star anise
  • Bay leaves
  • Cranberries

Cover with water, simmer, and refill as needed up to 4–5 times.

Living Room

This year’s “dream tree” came together beautifully — you can read more about it [here]. It’s one of my favorite traditions to style with Michaels Dream Tree each year.

Coffee Bar

Because no Christmas home is complete without a cozy coffee station. A few mugs, festive stirrers, and holiday syrups make it extra special.

Outdoor Fireplace

For the first time, we lit up our outdoor fireplace! Even though Arizona evenings aren’t too chilly, it’s the perfect backdrop for a little holiday magic. I draped our Thanksgiving garland across the mantel and topped it with a fresh Lynch Creek Wreath.
